Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of These Terms

These terms govern your use of GeoPocket, operated by Markus Klemann, Agathenstraße 12, 20357 Hamburg, Germany. By creating an account or otherwise using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use GeoPocket.

2. What GeoPocket Is

GeoPocket is a travel-memory service. It lets you save places you have visited or want to visit, organise them into pockets, attach photos, voice notes, and text to them, and share selected pockets with people you invite. It includes optional AI features that analyse the content you provide in order to fill in details for you.

3. Early Access

GeoPocket is currently in early access and is provided free of charge. Features may change, be added, or be withdrawn, and the service may be interrupted while we develop it. We do not currently charge for GeoPocket; if we introduce paid plans in the future, we will tell you beforehand and you will never be charged without agreeing to it first.

4. Your Account

You need an account to use most of GeoPocket. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for activity that takes place under your account. Please tell us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.

You must be at least 16 years old to use GeoPocket.

5. Your Content

Everything you put into GeoPocket — your photos, voice notes, documents, notes, and the places you save — remains yours. We claim no ownership of it.

To run the service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, reproduce, transmit, and display your content, and to send it to the third-party AI providers listed in our Privacy Policy when you invoke an AI feature. This licence exists only to operate GeoPocket for you; it ends when you delete the content or your account. We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not sell it.

You are responsible for the content you upload. Do not upload content you have no right to use, and be mindful when uploading photos or recordings that contain other identifiable people — you are the one responsible for having a lawful basis to do so.

6. Sharing and Companions

You can share a pocket by inviting a companion or by generating an invite link. Anyone holding a valid invite link can view the pocket it points to, so treat those links as sensitive. Content you share is content you have chosen to disclose — including any place, photo, or note in that pocket. You can revoke access at any time.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Upload illegal content, or content that infringes someone else's rights
  • Upload other people's personal data — including their home address or photos of them — without a lawful basis for doing so
  • Use GeoPocket to track, surveil, or profile another person
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits, quotas, authentication, or other security measures
  • Scrape, overload, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the service
  • Use the AI features to generate illegal or abusive content

8. AI Features

GeoPocket uses artificial intelligence provided by third parties. In line with the transparency requirements of the EU AI Act, we state clearly: when you use an AI feature, you are interacting with an AI system, and your content is sent to an external AI provider to make it work.

8.1 What the AI does

  • Analyses photos you capture to suggest the place, title, and category
  • Extracts details from documents and receipts you upload
  • Transcribes your voice notes into text
  • Answers questions about your saved places through the chat assistant, and — when you ask it to — creates or updates places on your behalf
  • Drafts descriptions for places

8.2 Accuracy

AI output is a suggestion, not a fact. It can be wrong, incomplete, or confidently mistaken — including about locations, dates, and the contents of a document. Please check anything that matters before relying on it. We give no warranty as to the accuracy of AI-generated output, and where the chat assistant makes changes to your data at your request, you remain responsible for reviewing them.

8.3 Data processing

The AI features send your photos, documents, voice recordings, chat messages, and relevant saved places to third-party providers outside the EU. Which providers receive what is set out in full in our Privacy Policy.

9. Third-Party Content and Imports

GeoPocket can import places from a public Google Maps list URL you provide, and displays map imagery from third-party providers. We have no control over that third-party content and accept no responsibility for it. Your use of imported content must comply with the terms of the source it came from.

10. Availability

We make a genuine effort to keep GeoPocket running, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. The service may be unavailable during maintenance, updates, or third-party outages. We recommend keeping your own copies of photos that matter to you — GeoPocket is not a backup service.

11. Disclaimer

To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied.

12. Limitation of Liability

We are liable without limitation for damages arising from injury to life, body, or health, for intent and gross negligence, and under the German Product Liability Act. For slight negligence, we are liable only where an essential contractual obligation is breached (an obligation whose fulfilment makes performance of the contract possible in the first place and on which you may regularly rely), and in that case only for the foreseeable damage typical of this type of contract.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes your mandatory statutory rights as a consumer.

13. Termination

You may stop using GeoPocket and request deletion of your account at any time. Because there is no in-app account-deletion button yet, send that request by email and we will action it — see our Privacy Policy for the address.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms. Where the breach is not serious, we will warn you first and give you the chance to fix it.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms. If a change is material, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you do not accept the revised terms, you may stop using the service and request deletion of your account before they apply.

15. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
